Plot

The young king Henry V of England leads his 'band of brothers' to war against France, and triumphs at Agincourt against all odds. His victory obliterates the memory of his misspent youth, and unites the country after years of civil war. But what is really won and lost? In a play that brilliantly combines drama and poetry, comedy and pathos, Shakespeare examines the morality of war and the motives behind it.

Now if these men do not die well it will be a black matter for the king…

The Abbey Shakespeare Players returned to St Dogmaels for the seventeenth year in succession for their first performance of Shakespeare's best-known history play. The production featured original music composed by Richard Morris, performed live. The magical setting of St Dogmael's Abbey, above the Teifi estuary near Cardigan, provided a perfect backdrop for this tale of conquest and self-discovery.
